Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (pxf)

Pseudoexfoliation syndrome is a systemic disease, associated with advanced age, primarily affecting the eyes. It is characterised by protein material deposition in the anterior segment of the eye, causing fluid flow obstruction, increased intraocular pressure, and the progression of POAG glaucoma. It is widespread worldwide, with the highest incidence in Scandinavia. The development of pseudoexfoliation syndrome may also be genetically conditioned.
