Haemochromatosis

As a result of the genetic condition (HFE gene – hemochromatosis) iron can build up in the body to toxic levels. This is termed iron overload and is potentially very damaging. Iron is deposited in various organs - mainly in the liver, pancreas, heart, endocrine glands, and joints.
This disease is more common in a certain ethnic groups: white northern Europeans with a Celtic background.
The US spelling as hemochromatosis, without the ‘a’ (haemochromatosis) is possible too.
