Extracellular matrix

The extracellular matrix (ECM) is an intercellular matrix composed of proteins (especially collagen) and glycosaminoglycans (particularly proteoglycans) and glycoproteins (laminin, fibronectin). The extracellular matrix represents the majority of the total volume of most tissues.
