Autoimmune

Autoimmune disease is a very diverse group of diseases in which an inflammatory reaction against the body's own tissues and organs occurs due to an immune system disorder.

The disorder is due to the improper distinction between own and foreign molecules by the cells of the immune system and also in a disproportionate response to their presence. The immune system then struggles with its own cells, generating large amounts of antibodies, resulting in damage to the target organ structure and function. It is not a reduction in the immune system, but some of its components work more than they should.
